Our
Story.....

In 1991, Temple Baptist Church was founded by
Pastor Dolton Robertson II. When the church first began there
were only a few families attending and the services were being
held in the Cullman Civic Center. Over the next few years God
touched Temple and allowed it to grow to the point that a building
was needed. So the search was on for land to build the new church
building.

In 1994 8 acres were purchased on HWY 157 on
the corner of Campground Road. After purchasing the property a
new church building was erected on the site. The church finally
had a new home and room to grow in the future. In 1996 Pastor
Robertson resigned Temple to Pastor a church in Florida. This
opened the door for God to move in a new direction.
In 1997 Pastor Jamine Grubbs became the second
Pastor of Temple Baptist Church. During the next two years God
blessed and Temple grew and was averaging about 80 people on Sunday
Mornings. In the Spring of 1999 Pastor Jamine followed his heart
for young people by becoming a Youth Pastor. For the next 6 months
Temple struggled to find the right man of God to lead the church
into the year 2000. By the fall of 1999 the church consisted of
only a handful of members that were hopeful for the future.

In November 1999 a Young Pastor Malcolm Carter
II came on the scene not looking for a church, but just as a fill-in
for a Preacher that had canceled the week before. After preaching
that morning, he knew that this was the place God wanted him to
be, even though he had no intentions of coming to Alabama to pastor.
As he traveled home God began to speak to him about Temple, about
the great things he had instore for the church. Within a few weeks
he surrendered to the call to come to Alabama and become the Pastor
of Temple Baptist Church. During the first few weeks at Temple
he began to turn the people from despair to hope, to turn the
church from death to life. God began to pour out His blessing
even though the numbers did not show it. During the next year
God brought people to Temple that would help lead it in the future.
Over that year God taught and grew the core of the church spiritual
so that people's needs could be met in the years to come.

In 2000, God really began to move as people started
coming, people started getting help, and people started getting
saved. By the time the end of the year rolled around Temple was
averaging 120 during the morning services. As 2001 progressed
souls continued to come to Christ and families were being added
to the church on a weekly basis. As the year went on the averages
continued to rise until we could not longer fit into the original
auditorium. So in the fall of 01 the walls came down and the church
auditorium could now seat 200 people comfortably.
As 2002 progressed God continued to bless Temple
allowing the average attendance to break the 200 mark during the
summer months. People were coming to Temple for help, and they
were finding help, love, compassion, and a savior in Jesus. However
as the year progressed we knew that we could no longer fit all
the people into the auditorium and that we had to do something,
and do it soon. After much prayer and study it was decided that
we must build a new church building on the hill beside the current
church building so that people could continue to come and get
help and come to know Christ as their savior.

In the spring of 2003 we broke ground on a new
church building that would allow God to continue to bring broken
people to us to find help, love, and encouragement. It was a long
hard process but when it was finished in the end of October 2003
we could now seat over 500 people with room to grow. We were able
to add many new Sunday School Classrooms as well a larger choir
loft so that all the choir members could fit. As 2003 ended God
continued to bless and move as more and more people continued
to come to Temple getting the help they were searching for, being
saved, and being loved by the members and by God.
2004 was a year to remember as God brought many
new faces to our church family, as well as to the family of God.
At the end of 2004 the average attendance was 260!!! 2005 was
a year full of God's Blessings with over 100 people accepting
Jesus as Their Lord and Savior.

In 2006 and 2007 the growth continued as we continued
to expand both numerically and spiritually. In the spring of 2007
we broke ground on an expansion project that would allow us to
continue to reach people in need. This new facility houses the
gym as well as kitchen and teen game room. The project also allowed
us to build 8 new Sunday School rooms, and to complete the teen
center. It was completed in the winter of the same year. In the
fall of 2007 we held our Old Fashion Day at the Cullman County
Fair Grounds. We had over 1500 in attendance with over 20 people
coming to know the Lord through the singing and preaching. By
the end of 2007 we were averaging 480 each Sunday Morning during
the worship service. God truly has blessed us beyond measure.

2008 has been a year of change at Temple as we
continue to follow the will and plan of God for our church. God
has continued to save people and bring people in, with the average
attendance near 500 going into the summer months. During the summer
of 2008 God led us to change many of the programs at our church.
We have redirected our focus and purpose on creating disciples.
To do this God expects three things out of each Christian. These
three things are to 1) Love God, 2) Love Other, and 3) Serve Both.
To fulfill these directives many church programs and schedules
were changed so that people can become disciples of Christ. We
now have one Worship Service - Love God, Community Groups allow
us to Love Others, and the Ministry Opportunities allow us to
Serve Both. We have also started the AWANA program for both the
children and teenagers. God is truly moving in all of this, people
are walking closer to him, people are being saved, and most of
all He is being glorified. We look forward to what God is going
to do the rest of this year and beyond!
